The European Standard EN50172 (BS5266 Part 8) calls, as a minimum, for emergency luminaires to functionally tested every month with a full rated duration test every year and states that the battery packs should be replaced as soon as the luminaire fails to meet its declared emergency duration.
In practice these battery packs will provide a service life in excess of the 4 years declared by the battery manufacturer against IEC285, providing they have been operated correctly and that their maximum operating temperature of 50º C has not been exceeded. |
