BUSH NELSON
Halogen Heaters

SELECTION
Selection of the appropriate loading for Halogen Heater installations depends on a number of
factors, namely design temperatures, air movement, clothing and activity of the occupants and
the direction of the beam. These factors are taken into account by applying the values given in Tables 1 and 2.

  1. Calculate area to be heated. (A sq. m.).
  2. Ascertain Power Loading for Type of installation. (P W/sq.m.).
  3. Select (from Table 2) the appropriate mounting height to reach halfway across the area. Space out the units on both sides of the area to be heated, ideally the distance between units should coincide with the total width of the beam.
  4. The number of units (N) is then given by :-
    N =
    AxP

    W

    Where W is 1000 for Model 1501
      1500 for Model 1500
      2000 for Model 1502 (1502/1)
      3000 for Model 1503
      4500 for Model 1545
      6000 for Model 1560
Example
A warehouse is to be heated with Halogen Heaters.
Dimenions are 15m x 6m x 4m to the eaves.
  1. Area to be heated A = 15 x 6 = 90 sq.m.
  2. From Table 1, Power loading P = 135 W/sq.m.
  3. Units to be mounted on longest walls. Half way across area is 3m. Thus from Table 2 suitable mounting height is 2.5m. Total width at 2.5m height is 7.3m thus for best heat distribution units should not be more than 7.3m apart.
  4. Number of units = AxP = 90x135 = 8 units.
    W 1500

Taking into account windows, doors etc. mount 8 x 1500 units at 2.5m high, 4 units evenly spaced down each side of the building. ie. 3.75m between heaters and 1.875m from the end walls.

An alternative with fewer units but less even heat distribution would be 4 x 1503
units at 3.0m high, 2 per side with 5m between heaters and 2.5m from the end
walls.
