Requirements for Electrical Installations,
IET Wiring Regulations, Eighteenth Edition, BS 7671:2018+A2:2022

The IET Wiring Regulations is the national standard to which all domestic and industrial wiring must conform.

The NICEIC Electrical Installation Condition Report is intended to be used only for the purpose of reporting on the condition of an existing electrical installation.

The report should identify, so far as is reasonably practicable and having regard to the details and limitations recorded in PART 6, any damage, deterioration, defects, dangerous conditions and any non-compliances with the requirements of BS 7671: 2018 (as amended), which may give rise to danger.

The NICEIC Electrical Installation Certificate is to be used for the initial certification of a new installation, or new work associated with an addition or alteration to an existing installation, including the replacement of a distribution board (or consumer unit), carried out in accordance with BS 7671: 2018 (as amended).

The NICEIC Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate is to be used only for an addition or an alteration to a single circuit that does not extend to the provision of a new circuit.
Examples of where this certificate may be used include the addition of a socket-outlet or a lighting point to an existing circuit.
This Certificate may also be used for the replacement of equipment such as accessories or luminaires, but not for the replacement of distribution boards or similar items.
